I'd prefer local over online ordering. Anyway my cat is showing flea problem so I'd need to do something. I remember a story sometime ago about how certain brand were actually dangerous to cats. So I'd like to know. Which brand(s) are OK to use, and which are to avoid either because they don't do anything or can harm cats.

I can go to walmart or meijer (Meijer | Shop Meijer.com Today | Meijer.com), the nearest pet shop that carries cat product is about an hour drive so that's not an option.

TIA for any suggestion.

Frontline Plus or Advantage are the best of the over the counter flea remedies. Revolution is only available through vets.

You want to avoid anything with permethrins. They can make a cat very ill and even kill them. It's Advantix for dogs that is the problem in the Advanatge product line, it contains permethrins. If your cat comes in contact with a dog that it has been used on it could be a problem. Be aware that permethrins can also be in flea shampoos, collars etc.
