I have a slight guess to this question: Why cats rub against our legs? : And I think that I readin a book once that it was because they are marking you 'their' human, just like dogs mark their territory. It says in the cat book that if another animal (cat) sniffs you, then they'll smell your cat's scent which says 'keep away, this is my human!' Is it also another sign of affection?
