So, everyone has always asked why I am the way I am. I come from a pretty abnormal family background, overall. I always tell people I'm who I am because I've had the most amazing support group ever. Man, today proved it.

In going through school and trying to be on my own, I've been unable to pay any bills. I'm nearly $1,000 past due on my car loan. The company's been searching for me to repossess my car. Grandma offered to help, and named a sum she could help with. The company is going to press charges against me tomorrow. I could come up with half the sum, and Grandma volunteered half the sum. I've been stressed...if I paid that amount, I'd save my car...but I wouldn't be able to pay my Goodyear bill, phone bill, get any gas, any food, keep my internet, or pay my car insurance. I just started a job so I can no longer draw unemployment, but it will be three weeks before I see a paycheck. That's a really long time to survive on $0.00.

I did not tell my Grandma any of this. Just asked if she could please deposit the amount she'd volunteered into my checking account. I was so ashamed to ask that. I'd figure out food & gas & phone later, those are negligible, right?

And Grandma does what...?

She deposits the entire amount of the bill, and tells me to have a new beginning & good luck with my job.

I don't know how I didn't bawl my eyes out.

T.Q.!!!!! I have tears in my eyes right now.........oh, if you only knew what reading your post has meant to me. Grandparents are such special people, and my grandma would have done, and did do, the very same thing your grandma just did for you! My grandma was always there for me, and always knew what I needed, and when I needed it. She was the one who always sent me care packages when I went away to school, sent me little cards, and was always my shoulder when I needed one to cry on. I sure miss that lady!

You are a very strong woman, but even the strongest of women needs help now and then, so don't ever be ashamed! We have all been there at one time or another, and we all needed a little help. Your grandma loves you, and I'm sure she is thankful she can help you out when you need it most. Let her be there for you, and just love her. :heart

Would she be interested in adopting another grand-daughter do you think?

Sorry, Melysion...she's got six granddaughters already, five grandsons. Now she's just interested in getting great-granddaughters out of all of us! Two of my cousins have already completed the task, and thrown in a bonus of one great-grandson.

AW! What a great grandma!

kinda reminds me of mine actually...I generally get in trouble with my parents on holidays, usually for replying to something nasty my sister said to me. I will never understand why it's MY fault that she's rude...Oh well. Grandma's the only one who takes my side. Actually...I bet grandpa would to if he had his hearing aid turned on, lol :D

It's always nice to have GREAT grandparents :D

What a loving thing to do. :) I think your Grandmother got joy from helping you. When I tried to pay my mother for buying something I wished I had, her face dropped. "Would you deny me the only joy I have left, Jeanie?" She was right. I should have thanked her and told her how much it meant to me, and I never forgot her words.
