Width of your cat's collar?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering what the width is of your cats collar, OR what you'd prefer it to be if you could have the choice.

I've been purchasing materials lately and started making my collars and can't decide if 3/8" or 1/2" inch is more appropriate. 3/8" seems to be more prominent in the pet stores, but 1/2" seems to look better to me, and it you can add more detail.

Franny seems to be tolerating the 1/2" better too, for some reason.

Anyway, wanted to get opinions from the experts! Should I continue to make them in both sizes or do you guys as whole prefer one or the other. Wait a minute, did I just say "as a whole"? Sheesh, I know that won't happen! We never all have the same opinion! That's what makes us so wonderful though!

Thanks guys for your help!

I use the 3/8. I actually prefer the 1/2 for looks, and the cats can't slip them off as easily, but the 3/8 fit better. I find the smaller size "molds" to the shape of the neck after awhile, so I think it is more comfortable for the cats. I also notice less fur disturbance (you know how the collar makes the fur in front of it stick up and out) with the smaller size, especially after they've been wearing them awhile.

Elliott's collar is 3/8 wide. I will buy 1/2 inch, but she is so small that it always looks big on her. You wouldn't think that tiny bit would make a difference, but it does.

I would buy a collar that was 1/2 as long as it was not too bulky or heavy looking.

But I do know it's easier to find collar making accessories in 1/2 inch.
Yes, there are waaaaaaaay more companies to buy the 1/2 inch from.
I have been lucky to find a few that sell 3/8" inch though. I prefer the 3/8" finished look - AFTER putting on the trim - because you can find trim in 3/8" and it covers the entire area. The 1/2" is harder because it's hard to find ribbon/trim in 1/2" sizes. It seems to run in 1/4", 3/8", 5/8", 7/8" mostly. It's okay though because if it's centered just right, it looks really nice.

So far it seems most folks like the 3/8" the best. It just seems soooo tiny when they are wearing it. :?

I wonder if the 1/2" would be better for long haired cats, because if you are trying to accessorize, the 3/8" would be harder to see on a long haired cat.

Some many :?: s!

I like the look of the 3/8" better. On Stephen, it's tough to see her thin collar b/c she's a DMH (unless you see her from the back), but I do not know if she would tolerate a thicker one. I'm thanking my stars she's allowing one at all!
