Hi all
I have an 8 year old cat who has scratched on doors for some time. He will do this if the door is open or closed, it doesn't matter. If it is closed, he is usually trying to get in to me (he is very attached). At night though, he will be in the room with us, door open and go scratch on the door. I have to call his name a few times and encourage him to get on the bed with us for him to stop. It is very annoying and just odd. No other cat that I have ever had has done this.

Any ideas what it might mean?
thanks
Jacki

He could just be scratching as if it's a scratching post. Most cats love scratching on soft wood. Does he have a scratching post? If he does and he just prefers the doors but you don't want him to scratch on them...I'd try stickypaws. You can buy it at petguys.com for cheap and it works great.

Do you have a vertical scratching post for your kitty? Maybe you can try placing it near the door see if that works. My cat Sugar, even though she is already declawed loves to stretch and scratch our living room tv, weird...
