Hi everyone, I've just sign up hope it's ok to post this here? I'm after some advise. My husband and I live a few doors away from his aunt. She has a 12yrs cat that was brought for her children as a kitten by her ex-husband. She is now selling up and moving. She never really wanted the cat and isn't wanting to take it with her. I would like to offer to take it in but my husband think we live to close and she will just keep returning to her old house. Don't want to offer if it's not going to be best thing for the cat. Any advise?

A senior cat will most likely keep returning to "her" home as she is attached to the house and not likely the aunt. I think the best solution would be if the new owners of the house accepted to look after the cat, but this may not be agreeable to them. The only other thing is for you to keep feeding the cat exclusively and perhaps she will accept your house as her new home. If you live where you have a cold season with ice and snow the cat may be more motivated to stay in your house during winter time.
