Has anybody else, that uses a yahoo e-mail account, received this forward? Or is it yet another attempt to store up e-maill adresses?

Here is the FW:

That e-mail is a load of crap. Yahoo! would never send out an e-mail telling you to forward it to 10 other people. If their systems is getting so crowded, why would they tell people to forward tons of messages to other Yahoo! users?

Messages like this from free e-mail services (incl. Hotmail) are spam. I agree you should report and delete.

No, can't be true. Yahoo! is currently working on a "Yahoo! Life" advertising campaign with only one goal: getting many more subscribers.

And if they wanted to know if your account was active, you'd have to send the letter BACK to them, right? If they know you're active by you sending a letter to someone else... they'd already know you're active based on the fact that you're currently using the account.

Honestly, ANYTHING I get that tells me to forward to so many people is pure bull.

hotmail does something similar, only they will suspend your account if you don't log into the system once a month. that's how they tell if your active or not. believe me, i know THAT's true. i finally just gave up and now i just have a hotmail passport attached to my normal Elfwood email account, so that i can use MSN messenger, but i don't have a hotmail email account. my hotmail account just got spam all the time anyway.

I see. I had a strong doubt about it too. Why wouldn't they make a public announcement - it would be as simple as that. Instead of relying on forwards so the message reaches all the yahoo users.
I was curious to see if anybody else has received it because it came from a Romanian friend and there are in it lengthy groups of e-mail addresses with Romanian names.
