Young she-cat in heat hisses at everyone

My seven month old she-cat Petal is in heat, I think, and a little less than a month ago her brothers started following her around and trying to…. well you know.
So we got a nice roomy wire kennel with blankets and everything to isolate her from them and let her out every day for some running around outside (they're mostly outdoor). Yesterday we finally got the toms neutered and when they were off at the vet we let Petal free to run around all day like normal. When we got back with the boys, as soon as she saw them she started hissing. Now she hisses at everyone, me and my sister (we've been their mommas for four months now) and her brothers.
Usually she's very sweet, funny, and mild-mannered. What's going on and how do I fix it?! Thanks a bunch,
Frazzled kit momma

Her brothers have funny vet smells on them and it confuses her. Take a towel, rub it on the boys and then on her and back on the boys. Then put a drop of vanilla extract on the back of each of their necks. What you're doing is mingling the scents and then masking them...so everyone smells the same. Things should tone down in a few days.

Do not let her outside while she's in heat...she will escape from you for sure and come home pregnant (if she comes home). Get her spayed as soon as her heat cycle is done because she will come into heat again in a very short time. A few weeks, maybe even days.
