I generally think its a bad idea to get a young cat because you think "the older one needs a playmate". Got burned doing that years ago.

HOWEVER, 13 year old somewhat pudgy indoor-only inactive cat Blackie (boy) has started to actually play with 3 year old Rocky (girl). I am beyond shocked! So funny to see him doing kitten-ish play fighting after years of inactivity. Against all odds, adopting another cat really HAS been good for him it seems.

He has had a cat crush on her for months, but couldnt get to first base without a swat. Actually, I still havent seen grooming, so it will be interesting to see if they can take it to the next level :love2

Yeah, Shepherd Book has been great exercise wise for MowMOw. He is either chasing MowMow trying to play with him or running from MOwMOw because he's pissed him off and is trying not to get beat up.....

;) Glad it's working out for you.

That's a great result, as often it doesn't work out that way with a senior cat. Glad to hear he's got a new lease on life.
