Apartment Carpet cleaning help

Hi everyone!

We live in an apartment, and I do notice some stains (some animal, some not). The nature's miracle will sometime leave a little white residual stain. I was curious if anyone uses a wet vac, or a steam cleaner? I wanted some ideas so it doesn't look like I trashed the carpet. Thank you!

I use a steam cleaner and use it only twice a year. I also use resolve carpet cleaner to get stains out. The steam cleaner works very well and doesn't damage the carpet.
