Are you sure you suctioned the pump to the bottom well? If it's not stuck down tight enough, it rattles.

 

I've also had experiences with the lid rattling. Sometimes I just have to take it off and then put it back on and the noise is cured...

There should be little suction cups on the bottom of the motor. You need to make sure they suction properly to the fountain when you put it in place, otherwise it'll rattle around.

I always dampen the suction cups and then press it in place and then pull up a little to make sure I got a good seal. If I didn't, I pull it up and do it again.

 

Only the platinum has suction cups. The older style drinkwell does not have suction cups.

Something must be lose. I would take it apart and put it back together again.
