Cat Food Suggestions?

My cat has been eating BFF (in gravy only) for awhile now quite happily. BUT - he's just decided he does not like it much anymore. :( He will eat it, but seems to not like it much anymore.

So, any suggestions? We've used Before Grain, which he likes, and he gets an occasional chicken wing and chicken liver. For various reasons, including massive laziness on my part, I am NOT wanting to go to full raw (he has to be separated from the dogs to eat due to the time it takes him and he will not eat most organ meats!)

What I am looking for is a good food (canned only, no kibble) that my cat might eat that is easier on the wallet than BG. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Thank you in advance!

I like Wellness. The 13.2oz cans are relatively cheap, there's lots and lots of flavours, and, honestly, I like the texture. It's easy to dump the can out and slice it into 5 equal servings. She also gets the big cans of Evo, but I don't like it as much because it's so goopy, and the smell (especially of the beef one) is just overwhelming some days.

In addition to Wellness and Evo, Io also gets some Weruva, BFF, and Merrick's "gourmet" line (cowboy cookout, grammy pot pie, etc). I'll probably stop Merrick's once the 'gift case' (a box of all 8 flavours in 3 oz cans) stops being on clearance for $6.

Wow nice find on the Merrick's. Any chance it's on clearance at a chain store that I could look out for?

I picked up about 20 cans of Halo Spot's Stew in some discontinued shrimps flavor for $.50 each a while back. They're regular $1.29 at my Petco an luckily my baby likes it.

Beyond that, I'm paying too wellness, blue wilderness, and weruva. We just tried Evo and he really liked it. If only I could go throug a 13-oz can faster. I always en up working weird shifts so he gets a couple more dry meals than I'd like and next thing I know to time to toss the big can.

Go to catnutrition.org and feline-nutrition.org

I read good is merrick cowboy cookout because it is 52% protein, 42% fat, and 5% carbs which is what you are looking for in cat food.. Bad is Natura Evo 95% duck because it is 26% protein and 70% fat. Also EVO is very high in phophorus and Avoderm uses avocados in their food. Weruva is very high in water (84 calories) so you have to feed twice as much and it's not good for the kidneys. This is all canned food.

All meat foods are high in phosphorous b/c MEAT is high in phos. Unless the cat has kidney disease there is no reason to limit phos--in that case, the cat should be on a phos binder.

Evo 95% foods are the closest foods to raw and are absolutely recommended. When I fed canned food I fed the chicken and beef varieties--not the venison or duck b/c they are more expensive and no reason to pay more for no good reason.

I recommend Evo 95% and Wellness CORE--closest to what cats are meant to eat. Anything containing plant foods of any description should be avoided if possible.

Rocky and Lily eat grammy's pot pie merrick, we are thinking of trying the thanksgiving day dinner too to give them some variety. Luckily we can get the 5.5 oz cans for 99 cents here.

My cats are fed Fresh Pet cat cups. They LOVE them.

My two have been really picky with other foods; BFF, Wellness, Innova, etc. Sometimes they would eat it, sometimes they wouldn't. Pet Fresh is by far their absolute favorite. They eat it ALL every single time. It's kind of expensive, but in comparison to what was going to waste with the other foods it is well worth it.

I've been feeding all three of my babies fancy feast because that's what they are willing to eat. I've tried the more expensive brands but they turn their nose up at them.
I would like to give wellness another go at it but I'm a little concerned about the recall they had not too long ago. Any thoughts?
I got my cat to eat a good amount of EVO tonight! What I did was simple and it worked very well. Online, they were giving trips on how to get your cat to like new foods etc. I put small amounts (not much at all) of tuna into Melfice's food, and he ate pretty well.

There needs to be balance I'm thinking. I will see if he will eat without the tuna tomorrow. As for the recall, I think it's going to be ok now. Wellness is a good brand

I believe it's a good brand as well which is why I'm considering a second try. But my concern is how come something so critical was missed in quality control?
As far as putting tuna in the cat food I try to stay away from fish because I heard that fish is not good for cats. I try to stay away from any canned food with fish as a main ingredient.
( I had a beloved cat pass away in November of 2010 from "unknown causes" which tends to make me over think everything and question just about everything. This can be very tiring. )

Well I did the math today while buying canned cat food and realized I really can't afford the wellness. My three go through about 8 little cans a day. I say about 8 because I added 2 cans to the regim because I'm trying to put weight on a very bony eight month old kitten.
Just not doable. It's a shame it costs so much just to be healthy...........
