I have 2 cats now, there was more. My youngest 'child' Binky is a classic kitty. She is just over a year old, we adopted her from the shelter. She's as goofy as the rest but she has one behavior that I have never seen or heard of. Like most kitties she prances around with her toys, ie mice, little stuffed animals, pipe cleaners rolled like a spring, straws, and finally all the different hair ties that my wife uses. Binky loves them. Here's the oddity. Everything she plays with ends up in her water bowl, large mixing bowl, that she share with Waldo our 8 year old male. They look like twins, large and medium. Anyway she puts them in the water bowl and just leaves them, one at a time. When you remove one there will be another one in there the next day. I read about the oddities other kitties do in another forum here but nothing like this. I'm not mad and I think it is hilarious. I'm just wondering WHY she does it. I know there are enough smart cat people here to give me an idea as to why. I will try and post thier pictures when I learn how. I'm sorry to be so long winded but I wanted to give you all the information. Thank you:catmilk

I haven't noticed any cacheing of toys in the water bowl, but I occasionally find them in the water or their dry-food bowls. In our case, I think the kitties are playing and like to play with their toys best when there is an *obstacle* in their way; like table/chair legs, food/water bowls and other furniture or things in the home. The vigorous throwing and tossing of the toy, especially in the kitchen where the toys can sliiiiiide for a long ways, causes it to sometimes land in the water bowl ... where they leave it, rather than get a paw wet to fish it out.

Flavoring the water sounds good but we have some of the best tasting, for humans that is, water in the state. When they drink they drink alot at one time. We give them fresh water every morning and afternoon. Our other kitty does not do it but he is older, 9 years. Our other kitties that have since passed never did it that I can remember. Binky is just strange I think and I will probably have to seek out a reputable kitty 'shrink' for her. LOL. She mainly does it with my wifes hair ties but anything is fair game to her but I have never seen any rubber or plastic balls in there. Thanks for the info.

I've found several items in water bowls here.

I'm surprised I haven't found Cali and Charlee in the water bowl, placed there by Gizilla.

They all seem to have their favourite spots. All of Muffs' and Abby's toys end up under my chair in the family room. At first I thought the toys were just sliding under there, but I have since seen Abby take a toy mouse, squeeze herself under the chair and then emerge with no mouse. She seems to think she's a chipmunk, stashing things away in preparation for winter!

Enzo does this all the time, he leaves his toys in the empty food bowl, in the water bowl, and he's even left them in the litter box like he needed a buddy while going number 2 lol. He also chews up his toys eventually and leaves the remnants all over the house.
