We always get the largest tree we can find, so the kitties can climb in it.

 

I haven't had a tree for years. A couple of years back I got one of those small like 3 foot trees. I had it where they couldn't really get to it and I didn't have any issues. I'm planning on putting it up this year again.

 

The only thing we sacrifice is our sleep when we hear those little plastic ornaments go pinging across the hardwood floor at four in the morning.

 

Baby does not mind the tree anymore. She likes to go under it and sleep for a while when she was younger.

But she has been getting better at it:

We try not to put ornaments on the bottom of the tree so she doesn't do anything to them.
She likes to knock the ornaments down and be Catzilla :lol: :

 

I havent got any lights up. i dont want one of the cats to chew the wire. Suki has had the decorations off a few times but a few quick botty taps and she is giving up with it now..... Thos hs ehas opened both hers and whiteys xmas presents so i was forced to put them back into the cuboard.

 

I've always had a tree... but we have a fake one now. Jo tried climbing my parents' tree two years ago. We have a picture to prove it.

After we took the picture my dad got a spray bottle filled with water and squirted Jo. Jo only tried climbing the tree once more... never again. Though this year I'm thinking we're going to have to find a water bottle for Merlin... I just *know* he's going to climb our tree.

 

This is my second Christmas with four hyperactive kittens/cats and I have yet to work up the courage to put a tree. I suspect it would only stay upright for minutes at a time, and also I have nightmare images of cats running around with ornament hooks stuck in their mouths, fish-hook style. :?

 

I was sure Otis would be a problem with the tree when i got him... but he didn't care at all. Then when I got Jasmine, I worried about the same thing... again, not many problems. Some strategic decorating and few breakable ornaments, and they are actually a lot better than i thought they'd be.

The tree went up again last night - i'll decorate it on the weekend when the novelty of a big green thing in the middle of their window has worn off on the cats... We'll see how lucky I am this year :roll:

Not sure if eating pine needles is dangerous for a kitty... anyone know?

We hung real silver bells on the lowest branchs to let Tinker play with them. Seems to keep her distracted enough that she leaves everything else alone.

I don't know, but pine oil (e.g., Pine-sol cleaner) is supposed to be toxic to cats, so I wouldn't recommend it.

 

We have like a 4 ft. fiber optic Christmas tree with decorations already attached to the tree. The cats don't really do anything except bat at the lower branches and sleep under the tree. They love lying on the presents under the tree though :lol:
