Hi this is nothing to do with my kittens behaviour this is to do with my 2 year old...
I recently got a kitten mainly for my loving kind sweet responsible 9yr old and what the little owner he is turning out to be he empties poos out the litter tray he feeds him plays with him and he sleeps with him at night...
My problem is my 2 year old. Obviously inquisitive he wants to join in the fun.. But I'm worried he is going to Hurt the kitten.. He's very heavy handed and I have to make sure that the kitten is away from him when I can't keep an eye on him... I was just doing the house work and I heard the kitten meowing as my son had picked him up by his neck.. I shouted at my son to stop and he did... But now I'm worried for my kittens safety and my sons safety when the kitten gets bigger and fights back.. I've shown him how to behave with the kitty I do make sure I sit down and supervise their playing times everyday so he's not missing out... Please don't think I'm a bad owner who should never have got a kitten because you should see how happy my eldest is with him.
I will assume my son will grow out of this stage and he will too love and care for the kitten like his brother but I need to know how to speed this process up...
At the moment when Lynx sees him he runs away (for his own safety!) so my son chases him as he doesn't understand why he doesn't come for cuddles like he does with me and his brother... So it's like a vicious cycle he does it more because he wants to play.... Has anyone else been in this situation?
Other than that Lynx has now been here a few weeks.. Is very settled in his routine and other than crappy kitten sleep deprivation I am very happy with his progress... Loving him being part of the family xxx
Positive comments and general advice please!!! Xxxx
