Coffee in litter

I've read in a few posts here that adding used coffee grounds to the litter really helps with the strong, POTENT pee odor. My question is, does it have to be used coffee grounds? or can I simply purchase a can of coffee and add some to the litter?? I'm just curious cause I don't make coffee here at home all that often.

It sort of makes sense as coffee is pretty strong whe you smell it. Think how far the aeroma carries thru a house?

Probably will help with the ammonia smell from cat whizz. I really like Arm & hammer baking Soda though. I use a 1 pound box in 10 pounds of litter, mix up real good. I rarely smell the cats "business", soild or liquid.

Seems like coffee might get more costly?

I don't know because I don't drink it.

Starbucks have LOTS AND LOTS of free coffee grounds!!! I mix it 50:50 with the litter. I also use coffee grounds in my garden.

I'm sure you could use fresh grounds, but they'd be pretty expensive. My suggestion is to try the baking soda first, it's about 50 cents for an off brand box of it(the small boxes).
Good luck =)

Do not try that!
