IAMS - the smell!

I finally got Cinderella off all seafood-flavored wet food, but she's still eating Fancy Feast for the most part. She's eating Eukanuba dry, which she really likes.

I saw that Iams was on sale and the ingredients looked better, so I bought a little case of chicken cans and beef cans. I opened up the chicken and HOLY CRAP does it stink!!!!! :? I mean, it stunk up my whole (little) house! If she doesn't eat it, I don't blame her. Haven't opened up the beef yet.

I'm just very disappointed. But maybe cats don't go by smell like we do. She hadn't touched it when I left this morning. :(

Is it just me or does it really smell that awful?

No, I'm kind of anal about checking the expiration dates of everything I buy (long story). I mean, it didn't smell like something had died, it just stunk (to me). Maybe the beef isn't so bad. Plus, it mush, and she prefers the little chunks in gravy. I guess I thought it would be shredded or something. I know there's much better wet food I could be feeding her.

I always heat her food up for about 8 seconds. I have no problem using the microwave for myself afterwards. I mostly heat it if it's leftover from the fridge, just so it's room temperature. The beef wasn't so bad, but it's not her favorite in ANY brand, but she'll eat it. I smelled the chicken again, and it wasn't so bad, either. Maybe I'm just used to the Fancy Feast because it actually smells like chicken you would serve to your family. :D I went ahead and bought some more FF and I'm mixing the IAMS half-and-half with it. Then I'm going to try another brand of healthier food (just not a whole freakin' case!).
