I use Arm 'n Hammer scoopable. I'm sure any scoopable litter would be fine. I use Arm 'n Hammer for odor control. Watch the paper for coupons and get a good brand on sale! I love my Littermaid; I hope you do too.

Did you already put litter in it? If not, I think the directions recommend spraying the bottom of the litter pan with pam...maybe not, but check before you put in the litter. I swear it recommends doing that...but I can't remember.

Also, to save money, you can buy a roll of garbage bags, the 4 gallon size and line the waste recepticle with the bag. (If you buy that ruffies brand they have like 200 bags for 4 bucks). That way you can reuse the waste recepticle over and over.
