Kind of hard to tell...maybe some sort of bug bite. Does it seem to be bothering him? If not, I'd monitor it for a few days and if it doesn't seem to be getting better then a vet visit is needed.

Thanks for the replies, my cat is a house cat and he lives in my apartment with 2 other cats :)

He doesnt look bothered by it and just acts like he does normally :)

He often playfights with the other cats specially most with one of them :)

Is there any chance it could be a reaction because of something he is allergic to?

My other cat as allergic to something 1 year ago, here is some pictures of that.

Hi saprize !

Is the centre of the area RAISED ?

The first and second pix (to me) look like it's a raised lump...and I think I see a colour difference between the upper level and the lower.

Exactly what it is can only be determined by a competent Veterinarian.

One of the possibilities is that there's an infection going on inside. IF that were true and if there is no 'leaking' going on, then that would be what's known as an abscess. That can become very painful and, if left without proper treatment, could lead to very severe problems.

There was a case on this forum where a initially minor skin infection was not properly treated......I'll give you a link to one of the person's posts - the post contains a picture of the after results - a WARNING for you first: the PICTURE IS VERY GRAPHICALLY DISTURBING - so, please consider that if you are going to take a look......and, I'm giving you this ONLY to educate/show you what could result with this kind of thing.

If you don't want to look at it, the picture shows a severe open head wound in the area where the cat's ear used to be...the cat's ear had to be removed and the wound left open to drain the infection.

IF you're still intent to proceed and view the picture, here is that link: GRAPHIC picture of cat's head wound

People here on the forum can speculate about what this could/may be...only a competent Vet can accurately diagnose and treat it.

IF he were my cat, I'd take him to my (competent, feline) Vet.

I've repeated the word competent....that poster believes the cat was treated improperly........by incompetents.

One last thought: many skin infections get treated with a one-time single-shot antibiotic called "Convenia". Most of the time it works well but, there have been a large enough number of severe after effects to raise an alarm about its use....if there are any other questions/possible unknowns about your cat's health (FeLV/FIV status other issues you haven't spoken about etc.), I'd suggest politely refusing that antibiotic and requesting one that you can by mouth.

Hope that helps !

Hi Stryker, thanks for your reply.

So there is no chance this could be an allergic reaction? Cause couple of weeks ago he had red things under hes fur that looked like wounds just like my second cat looked like when he had an allergic reaction and then i stopped giving him wed food and i never saw those red wounds/marks on him.

And he has been an inside cat all the time since i have had him, never been outside. And he doesnt at all look bothered and acts like he normally does.

Reason why i am writing all this is because i really dont wanna pay to go to the vet since it cost so much if they are just gonna tell me its an allergic reaction like the last time my second cat had red wounds on under hes fur :/

But if you guys here think that it cant be an allergic reaction i have no choice then to take him there...

What everyone is actually saying is that there is no way we can tell you what it is by a picture. To my knowledge, an allergic reaction wouldn't cause something that looks like that - it looks like some sort of fluid-filled cyst. But there is no way to tell for sure since I cannot see it in person and am not a vet.

But like doodlebug said, if he doesn't seem bothered just monitor it for a few days and see what happens.

I will just add that this looks very much like what Gizmo had this last time when he broke out with his allergies. We tried fighting it on our own because we thought it might have been a scrap from playing with Abby. After nothing really worked, we realized it was an allergy breakout (this was the first time he broke out in that location) and we had to treat it with an allergy shot.

I would certainly go in and have it checked out.

Allergic reactions like the one your first cat had are usually not concentrated in just one spot. It may very well have started out as the normal skin rash, but that looks infected to me. Perhaps he scratched at it and agrivated it. It could be deeper than it looks, so I'd definately get a vet to look at it.

I think if it were an allergic reaction, it would not be in one spot only. I have a dog with severe skin allergies, and she gets all sorts of bumps and hives and spots, and they are never just in one spot. Sometimes it starts out in one spot and then it spread, but it does not stay one little bump. I'd watch it to for a few days and see if it changes or grows or looks like it is starting to heal. My two boy cats wrestle a lot, and on occasion one of them will get a spot similar to this on their neck. The bump they usually get is more scabby actually. Or they get one a bump behind the ear. But they are usually scabbed and they go away on their own. They play kind of rough at times, and that is usually what their bumps are from.

Just watch it and if it changes or seems to not heal, definitely have it looked at.

Hey guys, thanks for the replys. I wanted to add today he looks better, the red is gone and it looks likes hes fur is covering up the place where the red was :) But i shouldnt say 100% that i know that it is good, but it looks good at least. Better then before, and he still acts like has always done
