I have a 3 year old Tonkinese. The cat grew up with my golden retriever but she died 11 months ago. The two of them played a little, but mostly they kept to themselves. When my dog died, the cat was definitely depressed for a while. Then he started being more affectionate to us; making up for the loss of our dog. The cat was our only "child" until last month when we got a 12 week old puppy. The puppy takes a lot of time and the cat is jealous and swipes and bites me a lot now. ( he always did this to me, but now even more ) When I try to give the cat some attention, he rejects me. How can I make this better? The puppy loves to chase the cat and bites him; the cat swipes at the puppy and they chase each other. The puppy will not be more than 12 lbs. fully grown so I think eventually they will be friends. But will the cat ever love me again?
