Hallo everybody! I’m new here, but before I start explaining my problem I’d like to wish you all merry Christmas and a happy new year!

So, before I start I’ll have to introduce you Catolyn and Rudi. Catolyn is 1 year and 7 months old and lives with us since she was 5/6 months old. She is the loveliest, was always well behaved and is just an amazing companion in life. During the time when she was in her first heat before we spayed her we had some problems: she basically never used the litter box for peeing. It was driving us crazy, we understood she was doing it and clearly feeling bad for it, but at the same time we live in a flat (two big rooms+ bathroom and kitchen) and we would find ourselves cleaning cat pee 4/5 times a day. Therefore we let the vet spay her and she mostly stopped - there were some incidents sometimes, but nothing unmanageable.
In October 2020 we adopted little Rudi, he was just 2/3 months old at the time and he’s amazingly cute. With him there were never litter box related problems, the only problem is that it’s still impossible to sleep with him in the same room - he does everything possible to not let us sleep... from throwing down the bin and playing with the trash, chewing and hunting my hair the whole night, finding a way to make the loudest noises possible, etc.
Because of this situation we decided to close our bedroom during the night and let the kitties hang out in the rest of the house (both of them, so that they would not be too lonely or sad - they love each other so much so they get really sad when separated).
Since the moment we started doing this, Catolyn never loses the opportunity to pee in front of our bedroom door, almost every morning. We checked at the vet and did urinary tests but nothing is wrong and now we’re starting to be really annoyed by the situation, the wooden floor is getting highly damaged by the pee and we’re really tired of not finding a solution. We already tried to keep Catolyn inside for the night but she would wake up in the middle of the night and start meowing and crying cause she wants to get out and we’re again at the first problem.
we really don’t know what to do anymore, we love them so much and giving away is OF COURSE not even an option, what can we do? Do you think she’s doing it because we close her out? Like a sort of revenge ‘cause we don’t lot let her sleep with us?
in any case asap we will take her to the vet again to check again if there is something wrong with her health.

Have you tried a "cat attractant"? If not, suggest you get some Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract Littter, or at the least in a spray to put on your regular litter. Put the litter box, near the bedroom door....and gradually move it further away a little at a time. Spread some lemon rinds on floor where she pees outside the door---most cats don't like smell of citrus. Try that first and see if you can break her habit of peeing outside the bedroom door. For 2 cats you should have 3 litter boxes in different places---ideally in quiet low- raffic areas. All the best, and hope these suggestions will work with Catolyn. Happy New Year! 👍 :)
