I'm SO excited about this, my hands are shaking!
Torri, our shy princess, played tag with Doran! Sure, it was super short, but it didn't end in a bossy fit from Torri and she STARTED IT! She initiated a little game if chase with Doran!
For anyone who doesn't know about her the basic bit you need to know is that this is the first time she's had an entirely positive play session in nearly 7 years. She normally will 'play' - aka bite one of the boys too hard - for 5 seconds or less and it ALWAYS ends with her getting upset.
I thought that's exactly what was going to happen when Torri got all excited and started attacking the scratch post (her usual wrestle buddy). Doran perked up and ran over, then he clearly invited her to chase him, and she did! When she had had enough she jumped onto a chair and Doran politely accepted that hint.
So, for everyone who worries about shy kitties progressing - they CAN. It's slow, and maddening, but it does happen.
Torri and Jitzu have even negotiated a truce lately. Jitzu is feeling just fine, but she hasn't chased Torri in over a month. They've even sniffed noses a few times!
