I am glad you like this site. It does have a ton of information, plus everybody is very helpful and it is about the only place I can talk "cats" to my heart's content! And yes, I agree with you about people buying the cheapest because it is just a cat, or a dog. Even my fish get the best I can afford for them. At least you have the knowledge and you can advice your shoppers on pet nutrition. If they take it wonderful, if not at least your conscience is clear.

 

I don't know that they'd be better off in a shelter.... Shelters often mean death for cats. I don't agree that"it's just a cat" is a solid way to treat a companion, either, though....

People need to be educated. I used to say the same thing until I was taught otherwise. Sometimes a real life story helps to press the point home. For instance you could share something that happened to you like "my cat had a terrible food allergy with Meow Mix and once I switched to something like EVO, it went away. I hated to see my cat suffer so much".

Few pet owners will willingly allow their cats to suffer, so if you can make a co-relation between the food and an issue it will help. Bad food can cause all sorts of medical issues. I'm not saying to make anything up, but you've heard of stories you could relate if nothing else.
