Wet Food Help

Hello everyone,

It's been a week since I've adopted Momo, being my first kitty everything is uncharted territory. When bringing him home the shelter gave me some food that they've been feeding him there which is Halo for the dry and Triumph for wet. I've tried excessively to feed him the Triumph but he refuses to eat it (I've even added the dry to it and added water to make it less thick), so I had to revert to Halo. I see him drink plenty, but I doubt it's enough to compensate for the dry. Question is since now he's getting comfortable and adjusting, what kind of wet food do you recommend to start off or is more of a trial error type of procedure?

Trial and error. It can come down to texture, so maybe try shredded vs pate, although most wet foods are pate, so start there. Try economical cans, the larger ones. Wellness, EVO, First Mate... avoid fish.

Halo is overpriced. It is one of the most expensive foods with a lot of fillers that don't reflect on it's crazy high price. So drop it ASAP.

If you have an independent locally owned pet food store, a lot of times they will work with you, not just on the selection, but maybe give you reduced price or free samples sizes to try.

I recommend not buying the really big cans or cases until you know what he will or won't eat.

I agree with NebraskaCat- my local pet store gave me 4 samples of different brand/styles of wet food in small cans to try. Not worth to spend the money if you're not sure if kitty will like it (at least, not if you don't have to :) )!

Once you know what works for your cat you can easily order online to save money but I'd start local first.

If you order from Chewy.com, make sure you have a month's supply of food on hand. Yes, that's how long they sometimes take. With no apologies.
